I knew I wanted a beautiful green stone to wear everyday for my engagement ring. I had originally wanted an emerald but I’m very active with my hands, and tbh a bit rough. Since I knew emeralds can be a little brittle due to the stone’s garden, my search started for an alternative green stone.
Much like meeting my partner, finding my green stone was kismet. I put the word out to my gemstone dealers that I’m on the market for a large green stone around 3 carats. As I was telling this to my spinel dealer, a wholeseller comes up and shows him a dazzling green stone. It just so happens that my partner was with me at the time. The universe collided and that was that.

Why tsavorite? It’s a lot more rare than emeralds. 200x more rare! Like emeralds, the vivid green color is spectacular. Unlike emeralds, they do not have inclusions (well the best quality ones do not). They are similar in hardness, both about a 7 on the Moh’s scale. But because tsavorite do not have inclusions, the stone is a bit more durable against breakage. The garden inside an emerald can make the stone crack off if hit hard.
I’ve worn it everyday for nearly 7 years and it’s still holding up beautifully.
